I
had a heck of a time figuring these out with no repair operations manual
but with so many of the older cars going up for paint work these days, it
seemed worthwhile to point out how it's done. |
 |
| Pulling
back the front corner of the window felt reveals 3 screws that have to come
out. You might crack the felt doing this, but you wanted to replace it anyway
since it's still relatively inexpensive, right? |
 |
| The
next hardware to remove are the two large, pozidrive screws on the door. |
 |
| After
removing the two door screws, the entire frame should lift out. "Lift,"
however, is a relative term and you will have a lot of old crud and sealant
to deal with. This one is relatively clean because I was removing it for
some paint work and had previously dealt with old crud and sealant. |
 |
| The
lower seal channel's three screws have been removed and the channel removed.
For paint work, note that this must be done in order to remove the screws
that hold the chrome beading on the door. |
 |
| So
here's what you get after a relatively light amount of work and running
the risk of damaging most of your older, brittle seals. I pulled this to
paint the lower leg, which was the new body color, and make sure the new
seal was positioned properly upon reinstallation. |
 |
| Installation
is, as they say, a reversal of the removal. |
